Sensory Exploration of Dar Bach Hamba
This workshop, organized in collaboration with L’Art Rue - الشارع فن, invited a group of children from the medina of Tunis to explore Dar Bach Hamba through a contemplative and sensory walk. Inspired by the Japanese concept of Shinrin Yoku (forest bathing), it encouraged participants to move with attention rather than intention, opening their senses to the often-invisible details of the city: textures, sounds, lights, smells, and sensations.
Each child collected these elements as traces—notes, drawings, audio recordings, rubbings, clay impressions, etc.—which were then used to create a sensory diorama of Dar Bach Hamba. The workshop offered a space for attention, discovery, and experimentation, where walking becomes a tool to observe, feel, and explore the environment in a different way.
This workshop took place as part of an artist residency at Dar Meso in Tunis, financially supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
